We are seeking a highly qualified research scientist to join a collaborative project between Khalifa University (KU) and the Technology Innovation Institute (TII) aimed at bridging the gap between cutting-edge quantum computing technology and its real-life applications to nuclear technology.
The successful candidate will be Affiliated with the Emirates Nuclear Technology Center (ENCT) at Khalifa University.
Applicaiton to CFD
Scope of the project:
Applicaiton to CFD
Scope of the project:
The project consists of the development of quantum-inspired algorithms, for Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) in view of applications to nuclear reactor simulations. The specific class of quantum-inspired methods on which we will focus is tensor networks. These solvers will be adapted toward the use of full-scale thermohydraulic applications to nuclear technology relevant to the APR14000 at the Barakah power plant.

Applicaiton to Neutronics
Scope of the project:
KU is seeking an experienced & highly motivated Research Scientist to work on a funded project to investigate and develop quantum- inspired type algorithms, for solving the neutron transport equation (NTE) in view of applications to nuclear reactor simulations. The specific class of quantum-inspired methods on which we will focus on is tensor networks. The successful Research Scientist will join a collaborative project with Technology Innovation Institute (TII) to develop and implement novel methods and solvers which will be adapted toward the use of full-scale reactor physics applications to nuclear technology relevant to the APR1400. As part of the project, the researcher will have access to state-of-the-art research equipment and facilities at the Emirates Nuclear Technology Center (www.ku.ac.ae/entc) and will get an opportunity to work alongside researchers/graduate students from various backgrounds as part of a wider team. This is a 3-year project (with possible extension), and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with leading research institutions in the UAE and contribute to the advancement of the nuclear-energy industry through the application of the developed solvers to reactor physics simulations.
Job requirement
Benefits:
Inverse Modeling and Data assimilation
The successful Research Scientist will join a collaborative project to develop and implement an operational forecasting system based on inverse modeling (and Data Assimilation) techniques for early emergency response management in the UAE. The project will focus on assessing emissions and providing medium-range dispersion forecasts to support real-time monitoring of atmospheric radionuclides at local, national, and regional scales. This is a 2-year project (with possible extension), and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with leading research institutions in the UAE and contribute to the advancement of the nuclear-energy industry through the application of inverse modeling techniques. If you are interested in this opportunity, please submit your CV and a cover letter to Dr. Mohamed K. Riahi at mohamed.riahi@ku.ac.ae We are an equal opportunity employer and we encourage all qualified candidates to apply. Ku offers a generous salary, which will be commensurate with experience.
